Dr Gary Kerr is a Lecturer in Festival and Event Management at Edinburgh Napier University. He is currently Principal Investigator of a multi-disciplinary research team that explores how festivals and events can become more accessible for people living with dementia.

Gary is an enthusiastic teacher, researcher and practitioner within the festival and event sphere; and collaborates widely to deliver management training for arts organisations. Gary is passionate about developing strategic leadership skills of festival and event managers, and has run a series of festival academies in India, Oman and the UAE: developing the management skills of arts practitioners who have set up their own festivals.

Gary is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts; Fellow of the Higher Education Academy; and Member of the Royal Society of Edinburgh’s Young Academy of Scotland. He is a former Governor of Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, and Governor of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Group: an alliance of 5 hospitals in the North West of England with an annual budget of £1.3 billion.
