Learning Space

Learning Space is a weekly training platform for disabled musicians (age 16+) of any musical ability to explore musicianship and gain composition and ensemble playing skills.

Typically, our Learning Space participants have some musical experience before they join – through our Open Sessions, in school or self-taught instrument learning. The sessions are usually three hours long with plenty of breaks in between, and are sensitively led by experienced facilitating artists. The judgement-free, safe environment allows the participants to explore the instruments, be creative with themes behind music composition, and share their work with family and friends in community settings.

The workshops progress at each participants’ own pace. The facilitators and participants shape the content of the sessions together, where you will have opportunities to lead the sessions and explore leadership skills. In this space, we work together to find our creative voice, and create own piece of new music. We combine learning music history with composition, improvisation and performance.

In 2024/25, we are scheduled to deliver Learning Space for 16 sessions, (in two blocks of eight-week sessions), with two sharing performance opportunities for friends and families. The Learning Space is taking place at Maryhill Burgh Halls, and the Tron Theatre, Glasgow.

Booking is currently closed. Please get in touch now and add your name on our waiting list for upcoming sessions.
