Our most recent performance at GIOFest VI found us exploring the boundaries of our improvisation and the ways in which we use our voices within performance. As a group we thoroughly enjoyed finding and using our voices, for most of us this was the first time we’d used them in a Sonic Bothy piece! We babbled, spoke, sang and played. It was a little theatrical and each of us found something interesting in the process…
‘I enjoyed trying something new and thought it was really fun to experiment with my voice.’ – Ellen
‘The babbling section was my favourite part and I liked using my voice in a new way.’ – Adam
Working with Maggie Nichols inspired us to push ourselves, re-imagining how we improvise with both voice and instruments. Vocal work is something we are keen to develop for future performances, and we have plenty of food for thought for developing…..
Many thanks to Maggie and to GIO Fest! We truly had an inspiring time.
