Atzi Muramatsu
Creative Director
Atzi Muramatsu is a multi-disciplinary composer whose works encompass concerts, dance, poetry, exhibited arts and films. He plays in various contemporary and experimental music ensembles including Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra, and his music features in three BAFTA winning films. As a self-taught musician he played in many bands in his 20’s, and progressed to attain Masters in Music (Composition) at Edinburgh University in 2012. Committed to widening access and participation, he has worked in Scottish Chamber Orchestra’s Creative Learning and at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Transitions.
As Creative Director, Atzi has overall responsibility for Sonic Bothy and its artistic direction. Atzi believes in the power of safe space, a judgement-free environment where people can flourish in self-expression and creativity. This principle guides all of the work he does.
His interests include embodied music cognition, democratic facilitation, and community music and trauma.
