General Manager
Christine is an experienced arts manager, producer and performer whose work spans music-making, theatre and film production, environmental workshops, research projects and socially engaged practice. She brings over 20 years of experience in community-based arts and music across the UK and abroad, leading projects that centre around accessibility, collaboration and creativity.
Christine’s background includes roles with Ensemble Thing, The Glasgow Barons and Eco Drama, where she managed diverse programmes involving contemporary music, opera and community engagement. She was Director of Christine Cooper Ltd., through which she designed and delivered ecological workshops for schools and community groups.
Christine holds a BMus (Hons) in Performance and Community Music from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and a Master’s degree in Arts, Festival and Cultural Management from Queen Margaret University. Christine is currently completing a Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design through the Permaculture Association, deepening her commitment to sustainable, regenerative approaches in both creative and community contexts.
Alongside her professional experience, she contributes to the South East Integration Network as Treasurer and is a member of the Musicians’ Union Regional Committee, advocating for equity, access and fair work within the sector. She has volunteered for multiple organisations including Oxjam’s Music Festivals, Artlink Central, Camphill Blairdrummond, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Scottish Ensemble promoting inclusive and participatory music practice.
As General Manager for Sonic Bothy, Christine leads on finance, safeguarding and policy development, supporting the smooth running of programmes and the organisation’s strategic development. She is passionate about inclusive arts practice, advocating for the social model of Disability and creating spaces where artists of all backgrounds can thrive.
