David J Cherry is an independent filmmaker, workshop facilitator, and photographer. He first worked with Sonic Bothy filming ensemble performances in 2022, and has continued this relationship in a new role providing admin and tech support for workshop sessions. Recently, David has begun a new project with creative director Atzi to build video documentaries on Sonic Bothy’s history.

David’s practice is people based with a strong connection to community. He has worked with various clients all across Scotland including Paragon Music, Scottish Library & Information Council, British Antarctic Survey and he edited the multi-award winning Epilepsy-awareness film ‘Zone Out’ in 2019. He also specialises in delivering media workshops for both adults and children with additional support needs and as a photographer loves nothing more than capturing people having a good time at a busy event.

David studied Television at Cardonald College and has an honours degree in Screenwriting and Filmmaking from the University of the West of Scotland.
